I am a naturopathic doctor practicing in Ottawa. While completing my undergraduate degree I was first introduced to the concept of food as medicine and learned about the profound effects that lifestyle and diet have on human health. Naturopathic medicine perfectly combined my love of using diet, exercise and lifestyle changes to prevent and treat disease, while still including additional treatment modalities that have powerful effects on combating disease and optimizing health. I would consider myself to have a foundational approach to healing. I put a lot of focus on laying a strong foundation on which to build a healthy life. This is accomplished by finding and treating the root cause of disease, instead of simply managing symptoms. I practice with the concept of docere, meaning ‘doctor as teacher’. I empower my patients to take ownership and control of their own health journey, allowing them to feel involved in the decision making around their wellness. When I am not working, you can most often find me riding my beautiful horses Fargo and Mezzo, playing the flute and piano, and on snowy winter days hitting the slopes on my snowboard.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
I graduated from the 4-year Doctor of Naturopathy program from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine after completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences (with a Minor in Nutrition and Nutraceutical Sciences) from the University of Guelph. I completed internships at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic, the Brampton Naturopathic Teaching Clinic, as well as the Sherbourne Health Center, where I gained experience working with people from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, abilities, and financial standings, all with their own individual health goals.
